Meeting Minutes

Select Board: Andrew Maneval, Andrea Hodson, Kathy Scott
Attendees – Peter Temple

The meeting opened at 7:00 pm.

Agenda, Minutes of 7/3 and 7/25 – The board voted to approve the agenda, with the addition of the MS-232 for signature.  Mr. Maneval requested to add to these minutes that his question for the Recycling staff at the July 25 meeting was for input on, or any questions about, the general idea of collaborating with Nelson to share the facility. The board then approved the minutes of 7/3 and 7/25.

Island Cemetery inquiry – A plot holder submitted a letter to the SB and discussed with them a possible misallocation of cemetery property.  He requests a resolution to the layout of plots he purchased in 1989 and the prevention of further encroachment. The Select Board will consult with the Cemetery Trustees and anticipates a resolution by next week.  No SB decision is necessary unless the matter can’t be resolved.

Recycling Center – The board reviewed highlights of the discussion with the Nelson SB. One of the threshold issues is the increased traffic that would come through the facility. The SB will reach out to the Transportation Committee for input on traffic data and will continue discussion with Steve LaMears next week on this and other factors such as staffing, hours of operation and facility budget.

Dog ordinance – The SB will hold a public hearing on Thursday, August 7, at 7 pm to present and solicit input on a draft ordinance requiring leashing of dogs in the cemeteries, and possibly on all public property.  Separately, the SB will gather information regarding best practices for disposal of dog waste.

Finance, expenditures to date – The SB reviewed year to date expenditures against the 2025 budget and has no concerns at this time.

Correspondence and other business
-The SB signed the MS 232 (Report of Appropriations Voted) for the DRA.
-The board signed the pay warrant for $400.
