Meeting Minutes
Members present: Harry Wolhandler, Tom McGregor, John Sandri, Ralph Zingaro, and Jordan Long Absent: Don Scott, Kathy Scott. Attendees: Doug Miller, Jessica Zander, Winston Sims
Agenda – Members approved the agenda and minutes of the June meeting.
Restoring Native Vegetation / Knotweed Management
– On July 11, the HCC chair will drive roadsides with Andy Powers and inventory knotweed stands.
– Mr. Powers would handle licensing. The HCC will handle neighbor notification by mail.
– Community Conversation – Tuesday, August 5, from 7-9, at the Granite Mill spinning mill. Andy Powers will attend to answer any questions.
Preserving Hemlocks
– HCC will update its report for Old Home Days, July 17 & 18 and Community Conversation. Ralph Zingaro will share his photos for display.
Lake Host & Weed Watcher Support
–Harry Wolhandler moved to distribute $3K in support, including $1500 to Silver Lake, $750 to Skatutakee Lake and $750 to Harrisville Pond for their Lake Host and weed watching programs. All voted in favor.
Patten Property
– Annual monitoring visit with Monadnock Conservancy will be Wed, July 2, at 9am. (If interested, meet at Dublin Road Trailhead.) The Conservancy will conduct a boundary survey and all will walk property.
Old Home Days (Fri/Sat July 17-18)
– The HCC discussed booth topics and staffing. Will display information on Saturday the 19th.
Recycling Styrofoam
– Following the Select Board’s request to the HCC for recommendations, the HCC began discussions, noting the possible option of storing Styrofoam at the old fire station, adjacent to the Harrisville Pond boat ramp, until there is a large enough load on hand for volunteers to transport to Guilford. The HCC will continue this discussion.
