WHAT’S NEW FOR 2025
I am pleased to say that Harrisville Pond continues to receive positive reports from the water testing we are doing with the support of the VLAP program at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Sciences. The 2024 assessment report indicates that chlorophyll levels are improving! However they did see a spike in algal growth in July’s water sampling and there were elevated phosphorus levels at the Cemetery Inlet, most likely due to significant rainfall in June. According to NHDES Stormwater runoff is the leading cause of nutrient (phosphorus) pollution on our surface waters. If you observe a cyanobacteria bloom do not drink, swim or wade in the water near the bloom. Call DES to report a scum (603) 419-9229. Harrisville Pond Association can recommend the following resources to help lake and lake adjacent property owners. For a guide on Stormwater management click on the following link:

For the past two summers our loons have attempted to build a nest on the pond. Due to weather events the loons have not been successful in hatching their eggs. We are hopeful that our loons will try again this summer!
Special thanks go to our “Weedwatcher” volunteers who are on the lookout for invasive species such as Variable Milfoil. Lake Hosts will also be helping to keep invasive plants from entering Harrisville Pond by checking boats. Coverage begins over the Memorial Day weekend, and then full coverage on weekends beginning the July 4th weekend.
SAVE THE DATE – Harrisville Pond Annual Meeting takes place Saturday, July 26th, 9:30 a.m. at Sunset Beach.
