Job Opening: Seasonal Cemetery Groundskeeper
Overview: The Town of Harrisville seeks a dedicated and respectful Cemetery Groundskeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of our three cemetery grounds, ensuring dignified and peaceful surroundings for visitors and families. This role requires a compassionate individual who understands the sensitivity of working in a cemetery environment and can perform duties with care and respect.
Position Responsibilities: As a Cemetery Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for various landscaping and maintenance tasks, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers, and maintaining pathways.
The Cemetery Groundskeeper will also be responsible for operating and maintaining various landscaping equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and small tractors. You must ensure all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored safely after use. Regular inspections and minor repairs of equipment may also be required.
Safety is a critical aspect of this role. You will be expected to follow all safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and visitors. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions, and participating in regular safety training sessions.
Additional Qualifications: Communication skills are also important, as you will interact with visitors, families, and funeral staff. You must be able to communicate respectfully and compassionately, providing assistance and information as needed. You will also work closely with other cemetery trustees, coordinating tasks and ensuring smooth operations.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, a valid New Hampshire Driver’s license, and a vehicle capable of pulling a small trailer.
You should be physically fit and able to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
