The HPA Annual Meeting for 2023 is Saturday, July 29, 9:00 am at Sunset Beach (rain date: August 5).

Invited to the meeting is a guest speaker from NHDOES Watershed Management Program. Focus will be on stormwater run off, the GreenSno program and minimizing the impact of salt in our pond.

Thank you, HPA members! Here is what we accomplished this year. The Lake Host program inspected 245 boats over summer weekends. We doubled the number of weed watching volunteers who check the pond for invasive weeds. We completed 3 water testing sessions with NH VLAP’s testing program. Currently 71 of our 90 neighbors belong to the Pond Association. Increasing our membership is critical to helping us with these water quality initiatives.  Please consider making a contribution to the Harrisville Pond Association.  For assistance or help with any pond related issues, please contact the current Board President.

If you own property on the lake, consider participating in LakeSmart: A Lake Friendly Living Program, sponsored by NH Lakes Association. You can find details at nhlakes.org/lakesmart/

This year, in addition to the VLAP testing, water at Sunset Beach is also being tested in June, July and August. Should any of the testing indicate the presence of bacteria making it unsafe for people to be in the water, our Health Officer David Belknap will post a sign closing the beach until the issue is resolved.  The Town Health Officer is the only person who has authority to close the beach.  Should you have any questions regarding a beach closure or the current status of water safety, please reach out to David Belknap or Teresa Morris.

Enjoy your summer!
