Meeting Minutes

Select Board:   Kathy Scott, Andrea Hodson, Pegg Monahan
Attendees:      Police Chief Steve LaMears

The board met for a workshop on the 2023 Budget and Warrant, with the addition of a brief discussion with the Police Chief about a grant application for body cameras for his department.

Following discussion, the board agreed with the idea. Chief LaMears will pursue.

Minutes of February 7- Kathy Scott noted for the February 7 minutes to add three items: 1) The SB agreed that the new bookkeeper, Joe Shawver, would start on or about March 1, and that Andrea Hodson and Mr. Shawver would connect to schedule this; 2) the board agreed on placement of a plaque with the inscription “Jay C. Jacobs Meeting Room” above the entrance doors to the Town Hall meeting room. The board will consider repainting the lobby and will discuss with Jeff Cady; and 3) the SB signed the agreement for Vachon Clukay to complete the annual Audit of Financial Statements by August 2023.

SB meeting calendar – The board will hold the second Budget Hearing this Thursday, February 16. The board will also meet Friday February 24 at 9 am, Thursday, March 2, at 7 pm, and Thursday, March 9, at 7 pm. Town Meeting is Tuesday, March 14, at Wells Memorial School.

Budget and Warrant – The board reviewed the individual articles and capital reserve allocations, particularly the allocation for Fire and Road Equipment due to imminent replacement of vehicles in the coming years. The SB also adjusted lines for legal services, and also professional services related to Church/School Street road project.

The draft Warrant has been sent to legal for review. The SB will also post to DRA. The deadline is February 27 for public posting of the final proposed budget and warrant.

The board discussed grant possibilities to pursue in 2023-24.

Staffing – The anticipated start date for cleaning services by Monadnock Worksource is Feb. 27.
