Meeting Minutes
Select Board: Andrea Hodson, Kathy Scott, Pegg Monahan
Attendees: EMD and Facilities Jeff Cady, Town Clerk Cathy Lovas
The Chair called the meeting to order at 7 pm.
Agenda, Minutes – The board approved the agenda and the meeting minutes of July 7.
Town Clerk – The Town Clerk notified the board that all dog licensing is complete.
Facilities update
-Tainted water case – Jeff Cady reported he is filing the paperwork with the state for soil disposal. Separately, the water test results for Town Hall and the Fire Department came back very positive. The Health Officer recommends testing again in a few months.
-Safety committee audits – The highway barn audit is complete with no concerns.
-Painting is under way on the exterior of town offices. Mr. Cady suggested additional lighting for the end of the handicap accessible ramp at town hall. He will look into replacing the railing and improving the ramp. He also will get estimates for new signs for buildings.
-Mr. Cady will begin working with SWRPC this fall to update the Hazard Mitigation Plan.
-Speed signs in the school safety zone will be set when the base and posts are ready.
150th celebration update – The board discussed logistics of the SB portion of the program prior to the parade. They will coordinate content with the Committee on Arrangements. Separately, the SB noted that Primex has informed the town that the fireworks vendor’s insurer is liable for any damage to non-town property from fireworks.
Employee Handbook update – Pegg Monahan reported that she connected with area towns, who provided data on their leave with pay policies, including for vacation days, sick days, and holidays for full and part-time (24 hours or more) employees. She will redraft the town’s existing leave with pay policy to better articulate paid leave based on accrued work time.
Other business
-The SB signed the 150th pay warrant in the amount of $8,646.50. The SB signed the pay warrant in the amount of $219,606.62. The SB signed the payroll warrant in the amount of $21,946.62. The SB noted the correspondence and returned payment from the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony participant who wishes to redirect his honorarium to the Welfare Officer/Dept budget.
-The SB signed the Timber Tax Yield for Map 10 – Lot 12 in the amount of $3,320.91.
-The Library Trustees informed the SB that they have approved the purchase of the 1939 Richard “Wig” Meryman painting of the Town Library, where the work will be displayed.
-Chesham neighborhood complaint – A follow-up letter is going out to Chesham property owners regarding junk removal.
SB meeting calendar – The board will not meet July 21. Their next meeting is Friday, July 29, at 9am. August meeting dates include August 4, 11 and 26.
