Select Board Meeting

Attendees: Andrea Hodson, Kathy Scott, Pegg Monahan
Minutes of previous meeting, March 8 – Kathy Scott moved to approve the minutes as written. The board voted 2-0 in favor, with Pegg Monahan abstaining.
Agenda – The board voted in favor to approve the agenda.
Welcome Pegg Monahan –The SB welcomed newly elected member Pegg Monahan. As schedules allow, she will meet with town employees.
Election of Select Board Chair – Kathy Scott moved to nominate Andrea Hodson to retain position of board chair. Pegg Monahan seconded. The board voted 3-0 in favor.
SB Liaison and/or Board/Committee Assignments – Pegg Monahan was named SB Representative to the ZBA, a board on which she already serves as an alternate. Kathy Scott will remain SB Representative to the Conservation Commission, will also serve as liaison to Historic Harrisville and will remain SB Representative to the Historic District Commission. Andrea Hodson will remain SB Representative to the Planning Board. Pegg Monahan will reach out to the Fire Chief to discuss a SB liaison position to the Fire Department.
Ongoing projects
Recycle Committee – Pegg Monahan expressed interest in participating in this committee, which serves as an advisory group to the Select Board.
Well water contamination case – Andrea Hodson reported that the fuel spillage is not covered under our Primex policy, because it’s a pollution issue. The board awaits the report from Powers Generator and also from Cushing & Sons. Abutters to the town offices and fire department have been notified. Water coolers will be delivered Tuesday, March 22, to the town offices, fire department, police department, library and highway barn.
Warrant articles / Town Meeting follow-up
-Pay letters instituting the COLA increase will go out to employees.
-The SB signed the Authorization to Transfer Funds to the various capital reserve funds as approved at Town Meeting.
–Mason Road Paving – The SB has drafted and reviewed the RFP for the paving work. It was also reviewed by the Road Agent. The chair will post to the NHMA website.
– Sunset Hill – The board will not issue an RFP for this project, as the Town had secured materials ahead of time in anticipation of a spike in oil prices.
-Town Hall – exterior painting – Before painting, skirt boards, a couple of window sills and a door jamb need to be replaced due to rot.
-Warrant Article #9 – Police Department Special Detail Revolving Fund – The Treasurer and Finance Coordinator are establishing the PD revolving fund.
Other business
Police Department Staffing – Our part-time officers are working in conjunction with county and state police. The board discussed posting the police chief position and the candidate interview/selection process as undertaken following Chief Driscoll’s retirement.
150th Celebration – The office will communicate with Mr. Hasz regarding his offer to donate additional American flags for the 150th and will put him in touch with the 150th Committee heads.
Assessing – The SB signed the Intent to Cut for Sandback, Route 137.
Oaths of Office – The SB signed oaths of office for town officials, board and committee members, and town employees.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm. The next meeting of the SB is Friday, March 25, at 9:30 am at town offices.
