Separately the HDC discussed advice from legal counsel and other attorneys in town to not name a board member with a paid position at entity with an interest in the outcome of applications. Members expressed differences of opinion on this counsel and further discussed the concern over insufficient membership to have a quorum as early as next month.
During discussion of the recruitment and appointment process, the chair noted that interested residents should a meeting or a few meetings, confirm interest in joining with the chair, after which the HDC would make a recommendation to the Select Board. It is the SB that appoints new members.
Attending the meeting were Sarah Tibbetts and Andrew Murray, both of whom confirmed interest in joining the HDC, though Mr. Murray noted he needs additional time to consider before committing. The board thanked them for their interest. HDC members discussed the new member packet which should be provided to incoming members and which should include the HDC Rules of procedure, Regulations, application form, and a copy of the Department of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation.
The Chair and Kathy Scott thanked all those who have served and who are rolling off. Those leaving are asked to return their copies of the Rules of Procedure for incoming members. Thanked interested prospective members who are attending.
