Southwest Region Planning Commission (SWRPC) – Representatives of SWRPC had an initial meeting with the SB to review a Harrisville road map as part of program to assist towns with prioritizing and budgeting paved road maintenance, including culverts, and projections for life expectancy for the next ten years. Mr. Underwood and Ms. Murphy shared a written description of SWRPC’s Road Surface Management System (copy attached) and explained their data collection process. SWRPC will reach out to the Road Agent. The SB will complete SWRP’s survey and respond within two weeks, including budget numbers and projections.
Parking at Skatutakee Lake Boat Ramp – Lake Host coordinators George and Bonnie Lowrey spoke to the SB about safety concerns about parking around the ramp, specifically violations even where signage exists. They proposed adding orange cones in two locations to the area directly across the road from the ramp so trailers are able to maneuver in and out of the water safely. All discussed ideas including enforcement of no parking laws and visibility of existing signage. The Lowreys will speak to the Police Chief. SB noted its support of the Police Chief’s position on the matter.
Emergency Management Director– Jeff Cady discussed the following with the SB: 1) Parking in No Parking area of the Fire Department lot, noting the urgency when the Fire Department gets a call. Mr. Cady will talk to Police Chief; 2) Updating the Emergency Contact List and how best to do this. SB will review; and 3) Recycling Center- Mr. Cady offered to help in any way if needed during transition following retirement of Phyllis Tarr.
Recycling Center– SB noted that specifics regarding establishing a RC committee will be discussed at next meeting.
